Grade 1M had a WONDERFUL time celebrating the Christmas season with our Grandbuddies.  We sang carols, sipped hot chocolate, shared Christmas cards and enjoyed each others company!  Wishing you all a most joyous Christmas as together we rejoice in our Savior's birth!

Skytrain and Seabus Trip - November 28, 2012

Grade 1M had a wonderful day riding the Skytrain and Seabus, shopping, throwing balls in the ball pit, eating lunch and, of course, playing tag with Mr. Ratzlaff!  Thank you again to all of the parents that came along with us!

On Wednesday, February 29 students, staff and parents are encouraged to wear PINK shirts to bring awareness to bullying issues and what we can do to create a safe and respectful environment in our classrooms and communities.

Valentine's Fun at ELIM - Friday, February 10, 2012

LOVE was in the air as Grade 1M spent time with our ELIM GRANDBUDDIES on Friday afternoon. First we read our Grandbuddies a book called "We Love You More" that Grade 1 both wrote and illustrated! Then we worked together to create our Valentine's Day card holders! Smiles, hugs and chocolate hearts could be found all around the room! That's amore!

Science World - Wednesday, February 1, 2012

The sun was shining, the students were smiling, the balls were flying, the volcanoes were erupting and the dinosaurs were roaring. That pretty much sums up our amazing day at Science World. Thank you again to the wonderful volunteers who came along with us!

Friday, January 20 is... Pajama Dress-Up Day and Hot Lunch

Gong Shi Fa Cai

Today we learned all about Chinese New Year. Connor and his Mom told us a story from a Chinese book about Chinese New Year. This year, the first day of the Chinese New Year is on January 23. People say GONG SHI FA CAI to each other to wish each other a prosperous new year. They also say XIN NIAN KUAI LE which means Happy New Year! Each student in Grade 1M also received a red envelope containing "lucky" money and some chocolates as a way of wishing them safety and luck for the coming year! Mrs. Venhuizen explained that red envelopes are used for this because red is a lucky colour for Chinese people! Thank you both so much for sharing all about one of your family traditions!

The GREY CUP Comes to 1M!

Wow - we were SOOOO excited today as the Grey Cup came to our classroom and then to our school - live and in person. Mr. JR LaRose (Alozie's Dad and safety for the BC Lions) came and showed us the Grey Cup that the BC Lions won in November. He then joined some of the students in a floor hockey game against the teachers! JR also spoke to us all and reminded us to love Jesus, to respect each other and to do well at school! Thanks JR! What an amazing experience!
